This plant transplants very well and has a moderate growth rate. Chokeberry is very hardy, thrives in moist soils and will tolerate dry soils in sun or partial shade. Although the plant sheds fruit it is not a litter problem, and while on the plant the bright red or black berries are a pleasantly attractive surprise. This plant was Shrub of the Month at the Morton Arboretum recently!
