There are many varieties of Japanese Maples. In the midwest ‘Bloodgood’ is probably the most hardy, although care must still be taken in placing it in a fairly protected area. Japanese Maples are truly magnificent specimen trees and ‘Bloodgood’ has perhaps the best deep reddish purple leaf color retention. It definitely lends an artistic and aristocratic touch to any landscape.
