Astilbe does best in partial shade but can handle full sun if adequate moisture is provided. Fertile, moist soil is key to success with Astilbe. This particular astilbe is quite possibly the most showy astilbe on the market. The foliage is a rich green color. The flowers are large and a bright lilac-purple color. The bloom is sweetly scented and occur in July and August.
